Hermit

Quest Overview

"The Hermit needs your help in hopes of finding a cure."

Walk Through

1. From Eastwatch, run to the Hermit, located next to the Thrungus Hole at 94.2N 43.0W.
   • Route: Take the Eastwatch portal in the Town Network, run through the Shattered Outlands pass at 93.0N, 47.0W, and then head due east to the small cave at 94.2N 43.0W.
2. Speak to the Hermit inside, she will give you a Bag of Life Stone Chips, then enter the portal to Thrungus Hole.
   • Note: The Thrungus Hole portal is tiable, recallable, and summonable.
3. Scattered through the dungeon are six Baby Thrungus NPCs. Hand the Bag of Lifestone Chips to each baby.
   • Tip: Baby Thrungus appear on the radar as yellow (NPC) dots. Refer to the dungeon map for locations.
   • Note: Handing the Bag of Lifestone Chips to a Baby Thrungus causes a mob of higher level Thrungus to spawn. Be prepared to run or fight.
4. After you have handed the lifestone chips to all six babies, you'll get a message that you have been coated with dust and to talk to the Hermit again.
5. Portal recall or use the surface portal at the bottom of the dungeon to return to the Hermit. Speak with her for your reward.
   • Tip: Save the baby in the portal room for last, in order to make an easy escape.

Hermit tells you, "Long ago I stumbled upon an ancient Falatacot tomb. In my foolish quest for riches I defiled the tomb only to trigger an ancient curse that causes my flesh to melt. Behold!"
Hermit tells you, "This melting of my body will continue until I die in twisted agony. My peace lasts but a moment as those accursed life stones will bring me back to life whereupon the cycle will begin anew."
Hermit tells you, "My search for a cure has brought me here. Will you not help me find solace? The Thrungus within this cave possess a unique ability to process rocks by digesting them. Take these and feed them to the Thrungus. Bring me back a sample of the processed stones."
Hermit tells you, "Seek me out if you should need more of these."
Hermit gives you Bag of Life Stone Chips.

For the first five times:
You allow Baby Thrungus to examine your Bag of Life Stone Chips.
The Baby Thrungus eats some of the Life Stone Chips and then spits them out.
The Baby Thrungus starts to cry.

For the sixth time:
You allow Baby Thrungus to examine your Bag of Life Stone Chips.
The Baby Thrungus hungrily eats some of the Life Stone Chips.
The Baby Thrungus emits a loud contented squeal along with a puff of powdery substance that covers you from head to toe.
This must be what the hermit was after. Hurry and return to the hermit before the Thrungus Powder dissipates.

Hermit tells you, "Yes! This is it!"
Hermit carefully collects the Thrungus Dust from your clothes and then suddenly her smile turns to one of sadness.
Hermit tells you, "You deserve to know the truth. It is my belief that this dust will sever my ties to the Life Stones so when next I die I will not be brought back. My heart aches for having to deceive you, but I feared you would not help me had I told you the truth."
Hermit tells you, "But do not despair my friend. For while you were gone I started to have misgivings about my actions. Perhaps death is not the answer I should seek."

• During The Risen Princess event, the quest had its reward structure updated. The 3 use mana forge key is the most probable reward, the gambling tokens and Golden Gromnie being the second most probable reward.
• During the Cloak of Darkness event, the quest timer was reduced to 6 days.
• During the Reforging the Past event, the quest timer was standardized from 14 to 13 days.
