Quest Overview
This is the third society advancement quest, which promotes a Knight to a Lord in each of the societies. This quest is basically the same for all 3 societies, with only the final item being different. This quest is the most difficult of the advancement quests, due to its length and the difficulty of killing 2 Moarsmen bosses.
You must have turned in enough Commendation Ribbons as a Knight in your society to be eligible for this quest. When you have turned enough in, the Commendations Officer will direct you to the appropriate Inspector of Lords.
Walk Through
Part 1: Moarsmen Priory
- As a Knight, turn in enough Commendation Ribbons to be eligible for this quest.
- Speak to the Inspector of Lords in your Faction Stronghold.
- Take the Eastwatch portal in the Annex wing of the Town Network.
- Head north to the Blighted Verdant Moarsman Tunnels at 92.7N 42.3W. The portal is located just inside the large fort structure.
- Note: This is the same dungeon used for the Ritual of the Blight quest.
- From the portal drop, take all lefts until you reach the Moarsmen Priory portal. It is not too far from the drop.
- The Priory is filled with high level Moarsmen. Use cold or slashing weapons and beware of drawing large crowds while fighting.
- It is recommended to run rather than fight through the first several rooms. The first room has an octagon shaped bridge, go east (north and south loop around to the pit below the bridges).
- Continue until you come to a large room with ramps dropping down to a basin with an altar in the middle. Head north in this room. A floor plate directly in front of the north door opens it.
- You'll soon come to another large room with two surface portals. Go to the southeast corner of the room where a tunnel leads out of the room.
- Inside the tunnel and around the first bend is a good place to stop running and clear any Moarsmen. The mini boss room is just ahead.
- Keep left and follow the tunnel until you come to a very long hallway. Ahead is a large room filled with Moarsmen.
- Kill the Moarsmen in the hallway, this will likely draw Prior Kothmox out of the large room and into the hallway. Warning: Prior Kothmox tends to bug after running into and out of the hallway several times. You will want to fight him in the hallway if at all possible, so try to keep his attention by attacking or vulning him. Move further down the hallway to keep Prior Kothmox from running away so often.
- Prior Kothmox has very high health and can take a while to kill. This is especially true for mages, due to his high magic resistance. If possible, cast magic yield on him (possibly using a Royal Runed Slashing Baton or Legendary Seed of Twilight if you have one). Then cast imperil and a vuln (typically slash or pierce). Using a Critical Strike weapon helps a lot, such as a Royal Runed Weapon. Mages can use Soul Bound staff or another quest staff if you do not have one.
- Note: If you cannot at least imperil Prior Kothmox, you are in for a very long fight. You will likely have to deal with respawning Moarsmen before Prior Kothmox dies. This also increases the risk that he will run back into the room and possibly bug.
- Note: If Prior Kothmox bugs in the large room and will not come out, you will have a very hard time killing him. You will have to deal with many more Moarsmen in the large room before you can reach him, and their likely will be respawns before he dies. Consider finding a semi-safe location in the tunnel and logging out. Then log back in later to allow Prior Kothmox and the dungeon to reset.
- When Prior Kothmox finally dies, loot Kothmox's Staff.
- Note: From the time you loot Kothmox's Staff, you have 1 hour to complete part 2 of the quest. If you fail, you must obtain the staff again.
Part 2: The Riddle
- Make your way to The Pit of Heretics 88.0S, 55.0W in the south Direlands.
- Route: Run from Candeth Keep.
- Depending on the time of day, there will be a statue at 87.9S 55.9W west of The Pit of Heretics or east at 87.9S 54.5W. Each statue is surrounded by 3 Coral Hollows.
- Use the west Statue from Evensong to Foredawn and a half (nighttime).
- Use the east Statue Dawnsong to Warmtide and a half (daytime).
- Warning: At the transitions between day and night the statues can bug. Try not to do the riddles when the transition between night and day is occurring (between Foredawn-and-half and Dawnsong and between Warmtide-and-half and Evensong).
- Give the statue Kothmox's Staff, then talk to it.
- It will give you one of three math riddles. Solve the problem and use the appropriate coral on the ground. Each coral represents a possible answer to the riddle. You can see what number they represent by ID'ing them. Now you are flagged to enter a portal in the side of the wall of the main temple structure (portal looks like a door).
- Brood Mother's Reckoning riddle answers
- Reefhunter's Reckoning riddle answers
- Note: Each person gets a different riddle. If you answer incorrectly you will be portaled into the pit in the temple where you should quickly recall to avoid dying. You must then run back and talk to the statue again to get a new riddle.
- Once you have solved the riddle, a Temple Door will spawn at the temple at 87.9S, 55.2W.
- Head over to the temple and use the Temple Door quickly, it expires after 5 minutes.
Part 3: Moarsman Gateway Temple
- Inside the temple, use the nearby lever to open a door to the ramps down. From the lower level, take the path to the east or west down until you come to a room with a Blind Keeper.
- Kill the Blind Keeper, but be careful, he can spawn Listris Sleeches randomly nearby during the fight. Apply the same strategies used for Prior Kothmox earlier in the quest. Use a Critical Strike weapon if possible and imperil and vuln him. Mages will likely need to cast magic yield on him.
- Note: Each time you hit the Blind Keeper, there is a chance a sleech will spawn. Deal with the sleeches as they spawn to avoid being overwhelmed by them.
- Once the Blind Keeper is dead, a Gate Watcher will spawn. This is simply a marginally tougher high level Moarsmen and is fairly easy to kill.
- Once you've killed him, loot the appropriate item from a dais in the room as required by your society:
- Note that you cannot loot until the Gate Watcher is dead! (No grab and go).
- You can only loot one item per Watcher spawn, so if you are in a group you have to kill him once for each person.
- Once you have the required item, return to your society NPC and give it to them..
- Then talk to the Promotions Officer to receive your rewards and be promoted to Lord.
- You can now access Moarsman City (Nyr'leha) by using the same statue you got the riddle from outside The Pit of Heretics. Using the statue now portals you to 90.8S 52.9W on the island. (The statue can be either at 88.0S 54.5W or at 88.0S 55.5W, depending on time of day).
- Note: Becoming Master rank allows you to use a much more convenient statue within the society stronghold to get to Moarsman City.

Radiant Blood
Gamri tilts her head and appraises the Moarsman Prior's staff.

Commendations Officer tells you, "Please speak with Gamri Nightshade, the Inspector of Lords, here in this Stronghold."
A flicker of steel catches your eye and you feel a sting on your hand. Looking down you see blood begin to trickle from a light cut. Gamri grabs your hand pressing the blood between your palms and stares into your eyes with a fierce intensity.

Gamri Nightshade tells you, "Travel to the Moarsmen Keep near Eastwatch on the North East Halaetan Isles and take what you need from this Moarsman. He must hold some key to entering the temple."

You give Gamri Nightshade Blood of T'thuun.
Gamri takes the bottle and places it in a silk lined box engraved with protective runes.
Gamri clasps your hand and a deep warmth creeps up your arm and grips your heart. A euphoric calm suffuses your tired frame.
Gamri Nightshade tells you, "Very good, brother. Our Mistress will be most pleased. She will divine much from the blood in this bottle."
Gamri Nightshade tells you, "You have earned your Lordship, see the Promotions Officer and receive your well earned rewards."

Philonius Porbandar tells you, "We believe the relic is being held within a temple on the Southern Shores of the Direlands. Moarsmen have been seen visiting the temple regularly, but one in particular, a Moarsman Prior, seems to hold some means of entering the temple."
Philonius Porbandar tells you, "This Moarsman Prior has been tracked to a Keep near Eastwatch on the North East Halaetan Isles. Your mission is to find this Moarsman and learn his secret to entering the Temple."
Philonius Porbandar tells you, "Once you discover his secret travel to the Temple, south east of Candeth Keep, and find the Amulet of T'thuun. Return to me with the amulet and your mission will be complete."
Philonius Porbandar tells you, "Ah, the Moarsman Prior dropped a staff? Perhaps that holds the secret to the Temple. Go to the temple on the Southern Shores, south-east of Candeth Keep, and try to gain entry."
Philonius Porbandar clasps his hands in expectation.
Philonius Porbandar tells you, "Might I assume that you found the Amulet of T'thuun?"
You give Philonius Porbandar Amulet of T'thuun.
Philonius Porbandar wraps the amulet in a piece of cloth and places it in a bag.
Philonius Porbandar tells you, "Well done Knight. I must turn this over to our researchers. They are very eager to study the amulet."

The Riddles:

During the Dark Season when the spawns were set forth, 2 spawn out of every 5 spawn that were set into the pools were weak and destroyed by their siblings. Of those strong spawn that survived, for every 3 spawn that remained in the pools, the Whispering One demanded 2 be sacrificed to his glory."
Statue tells you, "Know how many spawn survived and you will know where the staff must be placed."

During the Dark Season when the spawns were set forth, 5 spawn out of every 7 spawn that were set into the pools were weak and destroyed by their siblings. You hand over all of your Kothmox's Staffs.
Kothmox's staff fits into the hollow with a click. The staff glows brightly and a beam of light flashes out and hits the west side of the temple, revealing a door there.
