Lore Character Template

This template is for articles devoted to characters in the lore. While the same character may have a lore page and NPC/creature pages, lore character pages should only be created if there is significant information on them. To clarify, if the entire lore a character could be summed up in one sentence, and that character has a page devoted to their in-game NPC/creature, the lore summary should be placed in the "Lore & Dialog" section of that page.

Article Naming Conventions

When selecting the name of a character lore article use given names only, do not include titles of nobility or epithets. Use full names, if available. Exceptions to this include:

• Duke Bellenesse - The first name of the Duke is never given. Simply calling him Bellenesse would be confusing as that is the name for an entire house of Viamont as well. Thus, the best way to name the article is with his rank and last name.
• Naqib of Suntik - The name of the character is never given. We only know that he holds the rank of Naqib, and that he is the presumably the leader of Suntik. Thus, the best was to name the article is to use his rank and city.

According to the established Naming Conventions, Characters, NPCs, and Creatures are on the same tier. This means that if disambiguation is needed, the disputed name would become the disambiguation page and the pages would get the appropriate suffix of (Character), (NPC), (Creature), or more specific terms if needed.

Example:

• Geraine IV is the correct title for his article. It uses only his name, including the ordinal numbers used to distinguish this character from previous Geraines. Prince Geraine, Emperor Geraine, and His Eternal Splendor would all be incorrect titles, but should redirect to the main article.

Major Character or Minor Character

There are two slightly different versions of this template, one for major and one for minor characters:

• Major characters play a significant role in the story, or are used in many different numerous less significant roles that amount to something greater. For example: Asheron Realaidain, Ben Ten, Adso.
• Minor characters have little to no significance in the story. For example: Trothyr, Yevic Surveil, Melanay.

To categorize a character as either Major or Minor, simply set "Major Char" or "Minor Char" to "True".

If you are ever unsure on how to categorize a character, leave the variables blank, and after creating the article, start a discussion on that article's talk page so other contributors can post their thoughts on what category the character should belong to.

• Use the {{Related}} template to link to the NPC version, creature version, or disambiguation page of this character.

The character information section should be written following the styles and guidelines in Creating and Editing Lore Articles.

• Use references when giving information about the character. See Citing Sources in a Lore Article.
• Many of the sections under Related Pages may not be required for all characters. Delete extra sections that do not apply to your article.
• There are many variables in the Character Summary template which add categories to the page. To save space, you may delete the unneeded categories rather than setting them to false.
