Videos

Five videos of footage from live events with actual players were made for this patch. Asheron and Elysa visited several festival stones to meet with Isparians. However, Martine interrupted many of the gatherings.

Act I

Asheron and Elysa speak to a group of Isparians but Martine interrupts. Martine kills several Isparians then leaves vowing revenge on Asheron.

Act II

Asheron and Elysa speak to a group of Isparians about the dangers posed by Martine.

Act III

Asheron and Elysa speak to a group of Isparians. Martine arrives but is subdued by the Virindi inside him.

Act IV

Asheron and Elysa speak to a group of Isparians. They then leave to investigate Gaerlan's Citadel which had arisen off the Northeast coast of Dereth.

Act V

Asheron and Elysa speak to a group of Isparians. Martine appears and gravely wounds Asheron. Gaerlan then appears to finish off Asheron but they escape as the crowd of Isparians fight Gaerlan and a golem he summoned.

Town Crier Rumors

Town Crier tells you, "I read a rumor of an explorer who lives west of Lytelthorpe and has been speaking of a very odd place he discovered. Funny, my cousin is an explorer for the Exploration Society and he says he has never heard of him..."

Town Crier tells you, "Hey! If you know people who have a cottage or villa, ask them whether the Arcanum built more houses in their settlement. I hear that is so. There is safety in numbers!"

Town Crier tells you, "Have you heard? The essences have erupted from the very bowels of the world! Destruction everywhere, I've heard said."

Town Crier tells you, "I understand the famous cartographer Alatar Locke has been spotted. He has been busy making maps of Dereth. I saw one hanging on the wall of my brother's place. I had no idea Dereth is so big!"

Town Crier tells you, "Have you been to that place near the ocean's edge southeast of Aerlinthe? I have no idea what that thing in the water is but I don't like the looks of it."

Town Crier tells you, "Some of the existing cottage and villa settlements are growing! They seem to be in many locations- the desert, the plains, lots of places."

Town Crier tells you, "I have heard that the High Queen may soon call the people to her so that she can explain to us what danger we now face. I would sure like to be there to see her."

Town Crier tells you, "News, the Exploration Society has lost contact with the researcher they sent to study the Grievvers afflicting Stonehold. Vivaina, the Stonehold Shopkeep, says he left Stonehold two weeks ago, following tracks into the Northwest Woods."

Town Crier tells you, "I cannot tell you how relieved I am that those dreadful statues have finally been nullified - even their pedestals have been nullified. But there are still statues lurking in the foundries beneath them - we'd better keep watch over them, just to make sure they never invade us again."

Town Crier tells you, "The Scriveners' Guild has set up shop in many towns throughout the world! Visit your local scrivener to purchase scrolls and casting foci!"

Town Crier tells you, "A Sharpshooter has reported spotting the missing Exploration Society Researcher, Verdentine Magnan. The archer says that Magnan was busy talking to himself on a hill overlooking a valley heavily infested with Grievvers in the Northwest Woods at 75.5N, 20.6W."

Town Crier tells you, "I bought a rumor about someone named Slithe Tradittor who saw an ancient artifact and... well, you go buy it yourself!"

Town Crier tells you, "High Queen Elysa Strathelar is planning on calling people to the Festival Stones according to rumors spreading throughout the Arcanum. Some people have even said that Asheron will be there. Well I just hope Martine knows well enough to stay away."

Town Crier tells you, "That thing rising from the ocean? It looks like something that those Empyrean would have used. Maybe Nuhmudira was right after all."

Town Crier tells you, "Hear ye, hear ye! Novice mages will no longer have to perform research in order to learn their new spells! Scrolls are being sold across the land in the Scrivener's Vaults!"

Town Crier tells you, "My new casting foci are so handy! Can you imagine it? I only need this foci, a couple scarabs and one of those newfangled prismatic tapers and I'm all set for a hunt!"

Ulgrim Rumors

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "Hey! Welcome to the Xarabydun Pub! Grab a stool and let's have a drink to celebrate Gaerlan's defeat. I'm partial to Stout myself."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "Anam, a mug of Stout on my friend here! And my friend's having..."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "You doubt my chess abilities? Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Yuri, Bobby, Trumper, Blue?"

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "Morons."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "I went and played on the new chessboards yesterday. I beat everyone there; even that old chess champion Large Red. You may now call me Ulgrim Chess Grandmaster or just his Highness if you prefer."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "I finally got the Xarabydun entrance to open so I could visit my favorite Pub in Dereth. I'm enjoying Anam's fine establishment before heading back to Ayan. Aino was sad to see me go, but my life is one of adventure, excitement and drink."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "Not necessarily in that order."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "I was telling my cousin the other day about this big tusker I saw while traveling across the barren plains. Now, when I say big I mean huge! This thing must have stood over 50 feet tall and it had this strange look in its eyes."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "It tried to step on me, but I shockwaved it in the orbs and ran for it. Aliester didn't believe me at first, but I convinced him."

Ulgrim motions the bar for more stout. Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "Aw! None Left!" Ulgrim the Unpleasant tells you, "Bah! I told you so!" Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "Anam my good man, keep 'em coming!" Barkeep Anam says, "Sure Ulgrim, why don't you finish what you have first." Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "All done and wanting for more dear barkeep." Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "That's the stuff."

Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "So, Harlune is an Empyrean?" Ulgrim the Unpleasant says, "I thought they were all supposed to be asleep, instead they're everywhere. This could be a bad trend. Half of the Empyrean I've met have been genocidal maniacs. I'll have to keep my eye on him."

New UI and Major Game Changes

  • Game Concepts
    • The Spell Economy has been removed.
    • New spell component system introduced. You can now carry Prismatic Tapers and Foci for each magic school trained instead of carrying individual components.
    • All vendors now accept all trade notes.
  • Spells
    • Spell durations increased.
  • User Interface
    • New separate debuffs panel added to the interface. Select the red wand icon to see a list of the negative spells casted on your character.
    • Pyreal stacks increased to 10,000.
    • The leader of a Fellowship now shows up as a triangle dot on radar.

Asheron and Elysa visit several Festival Stones to meet with Isparians. Martine interrupts two of the gatherings attacking players and Asheron. Gaerlan also shows up to finish Asheron off after Martine wounds him but is attacked by players.
High Queen Elysa Strathelar calls her people to the Thistledown Festival Stone.
