The Advocates
The First Advocate was Queen Elysa Strathelar, who helped free humankind from the Olthoi. Legend says Asheron himself taught her many of her powers. Those committed to helping the lost, confused, and powerless have continued Elysa's tradition through the Advocacy.
An advocate is a dedicated player who wants to volunteer some of his or her time. An advocate's main duties are to assist other players and his or her fellow advocates and admins as needed. For the most part, advocates assist players by giving out information -- for example, general suggestions about where to seek adventure and instruction on how to fight and cast starting spells. Advocates must be familiar with the geography of Dereth but will never give out specific dungeon coordinates, nor will they share spell formulas nor other information that is rightfully exchanged as a commodity between players. Please do not ask them to reveal these secrets.
Advocates are required to help everyone equally, without favoritism, and to serve for several hours each week. Advocates are a vital part of Asheron's Call. They are our front line for helping all players and the first game personnel our new players meet when they need help.
Advocates are easily recognized by their glowing shield, or Aegis. Those wielding an orange shield are Advocates in Training (AIT) and those with a Turquoise shield are full Advocates. Both will appear within your compass as pink dots.
The advocate role is a strictly volunteer position, from which you get the satisfaction of helping others. Advocates cannot be player killers, as dictated by the design team.
Interested in Becoming an Advocate?
Once you have looked around Dereth a bit and done some adventuring, contact any advocate you see in-game. He or she can tell you more about the advocate role.
