The trigger for what causes the spawn remains unknown. Leaving some of the creatures alive doesn't seem to have any effect unless the landblock can reset.  Tou-Tou spawn probably doesn't work if bots in town.  However Cragstone's isle of tears is a bit more isolated.

The Patriarch raids are triggered events that are run by Turbine on no set schedule. They have plans to run them again at some point in the future.
On 1/9/09 Turbine reactivated the T'Thuun's Marauders quest for a special one night event. The raiders first returned to Tou-Tou, the Isle of Tears, and the Menhir Ring in Southern Osteth. They appeared at the other sites at an accelerated rate.
:<font color=green>A whisper carried on the wind catches your ear.
:"We are the Patriarchs of T'thuun. Do not interfere with our scouts or we will bring His wrath down upon your cities."</font>
The Summoning of T'thuun special timed event was also restarted this night, so the event would be occuring in the evening again and not on monday mornings. More information here

February 2009
As of the February 09 event, Unfinished Business, the pyramids in Patriarch's valley can now be entered to collect invoking stones from the raid creatures therein. See the Summoning of T'thuun quest page for the relevant guide.
** North pyramid has invoking stones from Arwic, Isle of Tears, Festival stone of Midsong and Mount Esper.
** East pyramid has invoking stones from Mayoi, Silyun, Candeth Keep and Southern Osteth Menhir Ring.
** West pyramid has invoking stones from Ayan Baqur, Colier, Asheron's Island and Tou Tou.
** Give the Royal guard at the drop of the Patriarch's valley 30 stones (he takes all that you have) for your reward.
** Previously the Emissary in Eastham would not reward you no matter how many invoking stones you had collected and turned in. Speak to a Royal Scout (possibly only the Royal Scout at 58.5N 10.3W near the Patriarch's Valley?) for your belated reward:
::<font color=darkgoldenrod>Royal Scout tells you, "I saw you help defend the towns from T'thuun's minions, thank you for your help."</font><br>
::<font color=green>You've earned 100,000,000 experience.</font><br>

At this point, all expected rewards have been found -- one for handing in 30 at a single location, another for handing in 90 at a single location, and a final reward for handing in at least 30 stones at all 12 raid locations. The Champions and Raid Commanders (3 different ones, one each at Arwic, Mayoi, and Ayan Baqur) all separate title and XP rewards. (See below.)

T'Thuun Raids

T'huun's forces are raiding different locations on Dereth. Floating pyramids have appeared over three towns and portal devices have appeared at several locations around Dereth. These devices are accompanied by raiding creatures. Each raid has Raiders or Marauders and at each location is a Royal Scout. He gives you three kill tasks for the local type of raiding creatures (Raiders or Marauders): 50 Moarsmen /Raiders, 50 Scalvus / Raiders, and 50 Falatacot Marauders / Raiders (Undead). All the raid monsters can drop Invoking Stones (33% drop rate). You can turn 30 stones in at the Royal Scout for a title and it flags you for some unknown future content as well with Asheron's Investigator in Eastham.

Killing the Raiders / Marauders gives for each group 100 mill exp and a grand casino chest / mana forge key. Killing the spawn boss (Falatacot Patriarch's Inquisitor or Champion), who will appear after killing all the raiding monsters and sub bosses (Falatacot Patriarch Elite Raider or Falatacot Patriarch's Executioner), gives a title after speaking with one of the Royal Scouts. The bosses and sub bosses will always drop an invoking stone.

 • Timer for the kill tasks is 6 days.

Status of the Raids

At the locations so far the spawns have been steadily expanding every time a new batch of creatures spawns. The first spawn was fairly sparse and less spread out around the area of the device. Now several spawns later the spawn in the case of Tou Tou is very thick and has expanded down to the beach below the lighthouse. The raid doesn't seem to be expanding toward the town though.

The trigger for what causes the spawn remains unknown. Leaving some of the creatures alive doesn't seem to have any effect unless the landblock can reset. Tou-Tou spawn probably doesn't work if bots in town. However Cragstone's isle of tears is a bit more isolated.

Wednesday Nov. 5th, 2008

On Wed Nov. 5th the following global message went out:

A whisper carried on the wind catches your ear.
"We are the Patriarchs of T'thuun. More scouting vessels have been released. Do not impede their work. Further meddling will not go unpunished."

The raider spawns began including Patriarch's Elite Raiders, they give a local broadcast when killed: "<Player> kills the Elite Raider. Dark blood sprays from its wounds as it attempts to crawl back through the portal and collapses in a heap of rotting bones and flesh." The Marauder spawns began including Patriarch's Executioners that give the same local broadcast.

Sunday Nov. 16th, 2008

On Sunday Nov 16th the following global went out:

The Arwic, Ayan, and Mayoi raids became live. Once spawns were killed fully, the pyramids above towns disappeared.

 2. Start kill tasks for the 50 Moarsmen, Sclavus, and Falatacot. The creatures also drop Invoking Stones about 1/3 of the time.
 3. After killing all of the creature in the area a small spawn will appear around the Device. This spawn will include 4 Executioners or Elites.

 1. After the Champion/Inquisitor dies a Raid Commander with even more health spawns. The boss has the ability to spawn tentacles. Kill the boss and a Spark spawns near the device. Talk to it for a Mana Forge Key reward. You get the reward even if you didn't get the kill on the boss. The Spark only remains for about 3 minutes so. If you did get the kill on the Raid Commander talk to the local Royal Scout in town for a title.

Notes

 • When you turn in the Invoking Stones to the Royal Guard he takes all the stones not just 30 so if you pick up more than 30 the extra will be wasted.
 • High Level characters that complete the lower level raids will still get a grand casino key, however, they will not get any experience.
 • Invoking Stone stack size is 30.
 • All guards give the same kill tasks, talking to any guard to receive the kill task or the reward. The only difference in the guards is the type of Invoking Stone they take.
 • All raiders or marauders count toward the same kill task no matter where they are. So killing a Marauder in Silyun is the same as killing a Marauder in Tou-Tou.
 • Timers for the respawn, except Mayoi, Arwic and AB: If you do not progress the spawn towards the boss, the creatures respawn immediately after for example a short logout. If you do kill the boss, the timer for the reappearance seems to be 5-6 hours. If you progress the spawn until the semi-bosses, the spawn will stay the same, but the sequence messes up. For example, you get the Executioners, log out, come back later, the Executioners are still there, but if you kill them, not the Champion will spawn, but the normal spawn. After killing that one, the semi-bosses phase might be skipped, and you're directly confronted with a Champion.
 • Patriarch's Executioner, Patriarch's Champion, Patriarch's Elite Raider, and Patriarch's Inquisitor drop stones 100% of the time.
 • The Patriarch raids were triggered events run by Turbine on no set schedule. They have plans to run them again at some point in the future. [1]
 • During the Unfinished Business event, these creatures were made available in a new manner. The pyramids in Patriarch's Valley can be entered to collect invoking stones from the raid creatures therein.
