Asheron Realaidain is a Yalaini mage and central character in the story. He rediscovered the lost art of planar magic and with it changed the world of Auberean forever. His research in portal magic inadvertently lead to the demise of his people, thanks in part to Gaerlan for leaving a gateway open on the Olthoi home world. Virindi tampering would later lead to portals appearing on planets that the Yalaini had once explored, including Ispar.

In Defense of Asheron

Many people blame Asheron for all the wrongs of the world. Below is a listing of major events in the history of Auberean along with all the story arcs that have occured so far, and what, if any, involvement Asheron had in them.

Dericost/BZ

Asheron was not involved in what happened in Dericost. In fact, the Yalain and Haebrous invasion and defeat of Dericost happened in the Vacari Eipoth, Asheron was not even born till at least 300 years later during the Rhethis Eipoth. By the time BZ defeats Lord Atlan's army, Asheron is only 35, very young for a race that lives to be 1000. The only thing Asheron had to do with BZ was that he rediscovered planar magic in hopes it could be used to stop BZ, and he was part of the group that did banish him and imprison his soul in the crystals.

Olthoi Invasion

The original Olthoi invasion of Auberean is the fault of the Yalain emperor for demanding more test subjects be brought back and Gaerlan for leaving a portal connect between the two worlds open.

Sundering

Asheron cast the sundering to save his people from the olthoi. The casting of this spell and the portals appearing on other worlds were not simultaneous events. From ACWarcry's History of the Empyreans - The Yalain:

“The Sundering” has been blamed for not only skewing the ways of portal space, but also opening the portals to other worlds, the portals that drew us here. The time period between these two events though could have been anywhere from 1,400 to 600 years.

The Virindi were the first race to arrive. They fought Asheron and lost. Later portals appeared on other worlds. If any thing is responsible for our being on Dereth, it is most likely the Virindi.

The Dereth Queen

From the Black Death Catacombs Quiddity Seed quest, we see that Elysa and Thorsten sought out Asheron, and not the other way around. Early on Asheron placed his faith in the Isparians. He had been researching for years, even centuries, for a way to defeat the Ancient Queen living in Knorr. When he saw what was happening to the Aluvians, he gave up his olthoi poison to the Isparians, hoping that it would give them a chance to survive.

The Fourth Sending of Darkness

Isparians, not Asheron, are responsible for releasing the Hopeslayer. Asheron stepped in to help defeat this threat.

The Rise of New Singularity

If anyone is to blame for these events, it would be the Isparians, for influencing the rogue group of Virindi with individuality.

Elements of Revenge

While Asheron is involved in the lore of this arc, he is not responsible for the feelings of other characters. Martine wrongly blamed Asheron for taking him from Ispar, and Gaerlan wrongly blamed Asheron for the loss of his brother. Martine is responsible for the release of Gaerlan from portal space, and Aerbax is responsible for the creation of Martine.

A Time of Chaos

Despite Asheron's best efforts and protective wards, the Ancient Queen found her way to Dereth to seek revenge on Asheron for a wound he inflicted on her back on the Olthoi homeworld. Nuhmudira was behind the attemped assassination of Elysa and the magical weakening of Asheron so both were incapable of mounting a proper defense against the Olthoi invasion, just so Nuhmudira could make herself out to be the savior of the Isparians.

The Shattered Coil

The Burun invasion was triggered by Isparians tampering with devices in Falatacot temples. The Burun invaded to seek revenge on the Falatacot. Not knowing that there were multiple Empyrean cultures they thought that Asheron was a Falatacot. Torgluuk sought out Asheron to kill him, but the two became allies instead.

The War of Blood and Shadow

This is another Isparian driven conflict, with Nuhmudira empowering the Viamontians to be ready for war against Elysa. By this time, Asheron had left Auberean, traveling to Bur to help the renegade Ruuk Burun.

Previous Story Arc (Aerbax)

Asheron was still on Bur, captured by now. Ben Ten helped us free him, and he directly helped us with the defeat of Aerbax, both with the Quiddity seeds and gaining access to Aerbax's citadel.

Current Story Arc (T'thuun)

Rytheran is responsible for this arc.
