Server Status Update: The War of Darktide and Morningthaw 1:43 PM Eastern (-5 GMT) link
More information and developments regarding Morningthaw and Darktide server connectivity issues. Prepare for a long and interesting story!
On Sunday our datacenter experienced a power outage, and backup power failed to properly initiate. This put Morningthaw server in a bad state and the server hardware ultimately died (character data is fine). Today our tech team brought Morningthaw back using different hardware. Unfortunately, that hardware is causing a connection conflict with Darktide when we turned Morningthaw back on. The result has been that Morningthaw has declared war on Darktide - whenever it is up, it tries to assassinate Darktide and the power struggle is like a clash of the gods in the server room.... or at least that's how it plays out in my mind when I think about it. It's far less exciting in person.

6:50PM Update: Due to a power issue at our datacenter, all services within the datacenter lost power. For unknown reasons, the backup power systems did not properly come online causing all services to lose power and go offline. Once the power issue is resolved, we will begin the process of verifying and restoring our games and websites.

Update Regarding Connection Issues from August 3rd-5th Link
We have performed a thorough investigation of all our services, hardware, and datacenter connections since Saturday afternoon. After reviewing traceroute data from players, we have identified a broader internet issue with data routing external to our servers and networks. This morning we received word that one of our affiliated connection providers is taking steps to re-route services around certain areas of the internet that are experiencing issues. We believe this to be the root cause of the reported issues.....

Next Tuesday we are planning to deploy a patch that will revamp the Asheron's Call network code. The goal of this deployment is to alleviate or eliminate many of the port mapping issues needed to get AC running on modern routers. As long as the proper ports are open the game should just work.

Greetings.
We have gone through the Day of Dev’s Time suggestions!
Why wasn’t my suggestion chosen?
A majority of the suggestions that were not chosen fell into one of two groups. The first group included suggestions that would take much longer than a day, or even a few days. For example, a weapon tailoring system is a large undertaking requiring extreme amounts of testing. Such things are well beyond the scope of Day of Dev’s Time. The second group included suggestions that would compromise the loot system. We have no plans to change the game in such a way as to marginalize the randomized loot system by implementing tech to craft or combine items, creating superior pieces of loot.

The rules are simple:

  • You only get one post to make a suggestion.
  • Your suggestion must be a change that can be implemented in no more than one day.
  • You are allowed to make additional posts to support or agree with other suggestions.
  • Posts that disparage or attack other player's suggestions will be removed.

At the end we will pick a number of suggestions and look at adding them to the game. We can't consider suggestions in this thread that are major projects that will take more time so don't waste your one suggestion post!

Tuesday morning we will have a hotfix. It will have all the items we discussed plus the tinkering fix, which was unrelated to the UI changes.
There are a couple of know issues after the hotfix. I know it seems weird to have known issues for the patch and the hotfix, but we really need to get the salvaging hotfix in and we feel that putting off the planned hotfix to fix the known issues would overall be bad because of the tinkering fix.

UPDATE:
We have deployed a patch to help players whose characters had gone missing due to some bad data appearing on their subscription information. While this corrects many subscriptions, please note that any accounts that happen to have multiple AC subscriptions tied to the same account name may require our support team to split the subscriptions into separate accounts before the characters will reappear. Note that if you have a mule (or other such "not the sub where my main characters are") subscription on the same account as your primary subscription, this can trigger the missing character bug on your primary subscription, which we are now able to assist with by splitting the mule subscription onto its own account.

Greetings,

We are looking at deploying a patch tomorrow (Tuesday Feb 26th) with a number of fixes:

  • Creatures no longer receive Damage Reduction Rating for specialized defense skills.
  • Fixed an issue where alchemy phials and weapon debuff procs were not working.
  • Fixed a bug that could reduce the experience points for creature kills.
  • Phyntos Wasp Summoning Essences can now be refilled with Encapsulated Spirit items.
  • Olthoi Slasher, Slayer, Ripper and Gurog creatures have been fixed.
  • Characters will have their quest flags for the Skill Temple reset with the patch.
  • More changes implemented to reduce overall lag on Darktide.

At this time the game servers and the account maintenance site at myaccount.turbine.com are now available. Known Issues:

  • If you pay for your subscription via PayPal, you will have to log into http://myaccount.turbine.com and re-enter your PayPal information. If you do not, your subscription will not automatically renew at the end of your currently paid for time. Once you re-add your PayPal information, auto-renew will work as normal.
  • It is not currently possible to add an Asheron's Call product key without first adding another Turbine game account. In order to add an Asheron's Call product key, first create a free game account for either Dungeons & Dragons Online or Lord of the Rings Online. DDO and/or LOTRO accounts can be created for free by visiting DDO.com or LOTRO.com. You do not need to download or log into these games in order to activate your AC account.
  • Note that the subscription extension time has not yet been processed. We will make an announcement once these are distributed. You will not need to take any action to receive it.
