Quest Overview
You must of chosen to save Nuhmudira in the Gelidite Library Quest to be flagged to complete the Nuhmudira's Boon quest. If you pulled the Plain Lever and not the Skull Lever in the Oubliette dungeon, then you're flagged for the The Callous Heart Quest instead.
This quest allows you to improve gorgets created by Nuhmudira before she was imprisoned within the Gelidite Library. The gorgets are kept inside the Arcanum Storehouses which have since been overrun by Sclavus, when the Sclavus made their home there they also unintentionally brought other creatures that stole some of the ruined amulets that wered kept in the storehoues.
Walk Through
- After you have flagged by saving Nuhmudira, speak to an Agent of the Arcanum who will thank you for your deed and direct you to Lin to speak with Balthazar at 54.8S, 74.4E.
- Speak with Balthazar to receive a list of Raiding Creatures. Each creature on the list drops a specific Ruined Amulet, the ruined amulets can be handed to Balthazar for elixirs that imbue the gorget with different spells depending on which amulet you hand in.
- You can either go and find the amulets now or enter the Arcanum Storehouses for the gorgets first. Inside you see that there are three different storehouses that have different levels of difficulty. The north portal is the most difficult but the red gorgets found inside can be imbued with higher level V spells. The west portal takes you to middle level with the blue gorgets, these can be imbued with level IV spells. And finally the east portal takes the to the upper section which is the easiest but you will only find green gorgets here that provide lower level III spells.
- Once you have the gorgets let Balthazar examine one and he will tell you to take them to Hiro, Arcanum Artificer in Xarabydun at 41.8S, 15.8E.
- Hand the gorget you wish to imbue to Hiro and he will infuse it with the power of Nuhmudira's spell. After which the gorget can be improved with an elixir of the left hand (creature spell) and then an elixir of the heart (life spell).

Lore & Dialog
Agent of the Arcanum smiles at you gently.
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "You have done much to help us. Your sacrifice and actions assisted Nuhmudira in her darkest hour and we thank you for those efforts."
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "If you have not yet done so, seek out Balthazar outside of Lin. He will instruct you on how you may further aid us."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Ah ... You have helped the captured Nuhmudira. You are a very noble person."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian snaps to attention, and salutes you.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "I have been sent here to ensure that none venture into this hold. It is overrun by a horde of Sclavus -- they have stolen some of the items that were collected here by Nuhmudira, the Arcanum and their Agents. These Sclavus are of a potent and singular mind, it seems, and all attempts to root them from their positions have met with great casualties."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Our High Queen has organized a unit of her elite forces and established a foothold within the first rooms of this storehouse. If you are brave enough, you may assist us in restoring the stolen items. In return, you may claim one of the special items that was stored within. Speak to the guards inside the storehouse to learn more."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian looks you over speculatively.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "With your skill you might be able to ... Yes, yes I think you can. When the Sclavus overran this building they were pursued by a variety of creatures that they upset along their migration here. Here is a list of the creatures."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian gives you A List of Raiding Creatures.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Each of these creatures may have escaped with some of the relics that were stored in this facility. Hunt them, and see if you can't find any of the ... odd relics. If you do find anything out of the ordinary, return it to me, and I will reward you with an elixir which will make the item you claim from the storehouse more powerful."
You allow Balthazar, Royal Guardian to examine your Unimbued Green Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Excellent work! This gorget may be imbued with the elixirs that I give out in exchange for ruined amulets."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "If you need to know more, then take this to the Arcanum Consortium, in the desert sands above Xarabydun, and seek out the Artificer there by the name of Hiro. He will be pleased to see you and your find."
You allow Balthazar, Royal Guardian to examine your Unimbued Blue Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "So you fought through the sclavus horde and emerged victorious with a prize! Excellent work, hero. This gorget that you have found may be imbued with the elixirs that I give out in exchange for ruined amulets."
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "If you need to know more, then take this to the Arcanum Consortium, in the desert sands above Xarabydun, and seek out the Artificer there by the name of Hiro. He will be pleased to see you and your find."
You allow Balthazar, Royal Guardian to examine your Unimbued Red Pyreal Gorget.
Balthazar, Royal Guardian tells you, "Ahh, a prize worthy of the great efforts you undoubtedly put forth!
You allow Hiro, Arcanum Artificer to examine your Unimbued Red Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer looks at the gorget and tears well in his eyes.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "She has done so much to help us. This is the most minor of her efforts. Here, this was made for one such as you in the first place."
As Hiro, Arcanum Artificer speaks words that sound like gibberish, the metal of the necklace glows softly and then returns to normal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "You may only alter this item once each month, so take care and make the correct decision for you. You will need this as well."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer leans over his table and picks up a book.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "The most important thing to understand about this item is that it is yours. You make it, you wear it. And once you've made it, you can't change it -- you'll have to make another one."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer gives you The Boon.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "This will impart to you the details that are necessary in the crafting of your new gift. Remember well what you have done to earn this gift. She was ... is vigilant in her protection of us, fellow. Remember that."
You allow Hiro, Arcanum Artificer to examine your Unimbued Blue Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "You have been into the hive of sclavus then, and lived to tell the tale. Excellent work."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer examines the metal ring and smiles as if very pleased.
As Hiro, Arcanum Artificer speaks words that sound like gibberish, the metal of the necklace glows softly and then returns to normal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Here, you will need this guide."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer gives you The Boon.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Now, you must be know that once you make one of these things, you can't change it. That means that you should think long and hard on what you would like to create for yourself. This book will explain the process in greater detail."
You allow Hiro, Arcanum Artificer to examine your Unimbued Green Pyreal Gorget.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer turns the item over in his hands, scrutinizing the metal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Hmm ... It looks to be intact. Those filthy snakebeasts did not harm this one, it appears. That means it can still be imbued."
As Hiro, Arcanum Artificer speaks words that sound like gibberish, the metal of the necklace glows softly and then returns to normal.
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "Well then, I suppose that I should explain what you are to do with this item, eh? Hrmph."
Hiro, Arcanum Artificer tells you, "This one seems to be of the lowest quality -- when you imbue it, it will only hold lesser spells. I assume that you were unable to enter the more dangerous areas of the storehouse. Well, for now you may as well imbue this one."
The metal consumes the elixir and emits a soft glow.
Notes
