Lore & Dialog

Asheron tells you, "Ahh, good. I can feel your inner Luminance. If you will help me, I have a mission of the utmost importance for you."
Asheron tells you, "I have managed to capture the elusive and dangerous Book of Eibhil, and have divined a way to seal its power from affecting this world."
Asheron tells you, "To that end, I am asking you to aid me in the delicate task of bearing a small portion of the cursed tome to one who can lock it away forever."
Asheron tells you, "There is a power stirring under the desert of Neftet, awoken by the A'nekshay who have escaped the slavery of the Sand Kings."
Asheron tells you, "It is a power strong enough to bind the Book from harming others forever."
Asheron tells you, "Find that power, a true Avatar of the Deru, and ask it to help you seal away that single page. When you have succeeded, return to me."

Asheron gives you A Page of the Book of Eibhil.

The Guardian Spirit looks you over carefully for a moment, and then you hear a voice echo in your mind, "I see you, <player>. I see why you have come."
A voice in your mind says, "You have brought great evil here, <player>. I would turn you away, but I can also see the need that brought you here."
A voice in your mind says, "But, to bear such as you carry in front of the Avatar, you must be tested, and you must gain wisdom. Enter the portal here, and proceed on your trial. Those here will try to stop you. Have no fear, you can cause them no permanent harm."
A voice in your mind says, "You will also see five visions, so you will gain greater understanding of the peril that brought you here this day. Good luck, and may the Blessings of the Deru go with you."

Apparition of Lady Daenerah says, "You summoned me, Your Highness?"
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "I did, Lady Daenerah"
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "It has become increasingly dangerous to store these copies of the Book here."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "We have decided it is best if they are hidden far from the castle at this point."
Borelean hands Lady Daenerah a rolled parchment.
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "We have decided it is best if they are hidden far from the castle at this point."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "Have all the books moved to that location, and make sure all further tomes are sent there as well."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "And, Lady Daenerah, speak of this to no one."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "The less opportunities the enemy has to hear of the Book's true location, the less likely they are to try to retrieve all of these copies."
Apparition of Lady Daenerah says, "As you wish, Your Highness. It will be done."

Borelean pours through copies of the Book, looking for something.
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "It has to be here somewhere, it just has to be..."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "There just has to be a way in these copies to bring my wife back..."

A whisper of a female voice echoes through the room, "Seek the path, my love. You will find the way to me."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "I will not lose you, my love. No death in Dereth is permanent. There has to be a way..."

Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "Why can't I find it?"
Borelean pours through book after book, lines of desperation etched deeply into his face.
A whisper of a female voice echoes through the room, "You will find the path, my love. You will find your way to me." echoes through the room, "Seek the path, my love. You will find the way to me. Do not lose hope."

Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "With all of the powers in this world, there has to be a way to make this work..."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "Bah! These copies are useless. I must find the Book itself. I *need* the Book of Eibhil itself!"

A seductive female voice echoes in your mind, "You have called to me, by despair and blood, and I have come. If you will pay my price and learn my secrets, that which you seek can be returned to you. But, with all your soul, you must desire this above all else, and you must be willing to do all that must be done. The road is long, but all things are achievable."
Borelean looks around the room, fear and hope both showing on his worn features.
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "I could get her back? Bring her back to life?"

A seductive female voice echoes in your mind, "That and more, my love. That and much more."

Borelean stares intently at the Book of Eibhil, seeming deep in thought.
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "There has to be some way to perform this ritual without sacrificing another's life. There has to be."
A seductive female voice echoes in your mind, "Without the spark of a fading spirit, her own spirit will be weakened, likely to the point where she cannot be revived. Would you let such a simple fear hold you back? What is the cost of one spirit compared to the return of your beloved wife?"
Borelean thinks for a moment, seeming conflicted.

Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "No. There must be another way. What if several each gave of themselves willingly? From what you've said, the life energy needed for this ritual need not come from a single spirit."
A seductive female voice echoes in your mind, "You would offer willing sacrifice? From several, as opposed to the totality of one? Very well, but each must swear by blood and spirit to me, and to me alone. Only then will there be enough power to attempt this."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "It shall be done. I'll spread the word to my closest Knights and her Handmaidens. All will be sworn to secrecy, and those who volunteer willingly will join in the ritual."
You hear a whisper in your mind that Borelean does not seem to hear, "It is unorthodox, but done properly, and I will get to feast on the spirits of many. These fools know not what they offer, nor the totality of their price."

Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "So many have answered the call, so many have come. With so many volunteers, the cost to each should be small. This will work."
A seductive female voice echoes in your mind, "Yes, my love. Each will only have to offer a small shard of their spirit into the ritual itself."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "All have sworn to you, by blood and spirit, as you asked. Let's do this."
The Book begins to glow more brightly, and a chant fills your mind, seeming to echo off the walls.
After a moment, a red light begins to slowly emanate from Hoshino Kei's body. As the light slowly grows in intensity, the chanting grows louder, and voices seem to join in, until it seems an entire chorus is calling her back.

Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "Rise, My love! Come back to me!"
With a loud crack, a new body forms over the old.
Apparition of Hoshino Kei says, "You have called to me, from beyond the depths, and I have come."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "My love? Is that you?"
Apparition of Hoshino Kei says, "Of course, my love. Who else would come to such a summons?"

As the ritual winds down, a strange coldness begins to radiate from Hoshino Kei.
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "What's wrong?"
Borelean reaches out, but stops when he feels the cold radiating from Hoshino Kei.
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "You told me I could bring her back! What did you do to her!"
An amused, mocking female voice echoes in your mind, "Foolish boy. I told her you could get her back, and you have. I never said I would return her to life."
An amused, mocking female voice echoes in your mind, "She is to be my new Avatar in this world, and I have you to thank for wakening her. Moreso, thank you for all of these fine sacrifices. I will enjoy them slowly, and leave you for last, my love."

Apparition of Hoshino Kei says, "Well done, indeed, my love. I have returned, and the strength of the Book flows through me. There is so much to do, and you have so little time."
Apparition of Hoshino Kei says, "Until then, be well my love, and know that I will always be watching you."
Apparition of Borelean Strathelar says, "NO!!!"

A serene voice fills your mind, "Greetings, <player>. I have been watching your progress."
A serene voice fills your mind, "I do hope my friends did not cause you undue harm. The trial is necessary, as it weakens the hold that the page has gained upon you in the time you've been in contact with it."
A serene voice fills your mind, "You bear a page of the dark tome, the bane of my people. Hand it to me, so it may be sealed away, and you may be cleansed."

You allow Avatar of the Deru to examine your A Page of the Book of Eibhil.
A serene voice fills your mind, "You have come, and you have seen visions of the darkness of that tome. It is only a small sample of the evil you now bear with you, but any wisdom gained is wisdom earned."
A serene voice fills your mind, "This thing you bear, it can be sealed away, for a time."
The Avatar of the Deru takes the page from you, and it vanishes immediately thereafter. When it is gone, you feel as if a great weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
You hand over 1 of your A Page of the Book of Eibhils.
A serene voice fills your mind, "I can hold the book, once it has all come to me, for an Age, maybe two, but not forever. Its power is too great, and its ties to this world too many, for it to be contained forever, even by one such as me."
A serene voice fills your mind, "We can only hope that the intervening millenia <SIC> will be long enough for those who follow the path to shatter the book's hold on this world, and then to weaken it 'til it reaches a point where it may be sealed forever. In that, time will tell."
A serene voice fills your mind, "For now, it is best to focus on getting the whole of the book here, which will be a lengthy process in and of itself."
A serene voice fills your mind, "To that end, I thank you for braving the book to bring a page of it here. The corruption of even a single page would forever fill one of lesser stature than your own."
A serene voice fills your mind, "But you have borne it here and survived. For that, I thank you. Please, accept my blessing and be healed of its touch."
The Avatar of the Deru touches you, and a green light pours through your form, removing the taint of the Book from your spirit.
A serene voice fills your mind, "Take this crystal to the one you call Asheron, so he may know of your success and your healing. Go now, with my blessing, and the blessings of all of the Deru."
Avatar of the Deru gives you Deru Avatar's Gem.

You allow Asheron to examine your Deru Avatar's Gem.
You hand over 1 of your Deru Avatar's Gems.
Asheron studies the gem very carefully, almost reverently.
Asheron tells you, "So, it is done then. You have seen the Avatar, and it has agreed to help."
Asheron sighs in relief.
Asheron tells you, "Good. If the Avatar will help, then there is hope."
Asheron tells you, "Though it may have seemed a simple enough task for one of your obvious skill, you have done a thing far braver than you can imagine, and I thank you for it."
Asheron tells you, "Please, accept this in return for your bravery, and may all know you earned the right to be called a true 'Bearer of Darkness', in service to the Light."

Asheron gives you Mana Forge Key.
You've earned 198,157,237 experience.
Experience Bonus for first-time completion.
You've earned 99,078,619 experience.
You've earned 20,000 Luminance.
Luminance Bonus for first-time completion.
You've earned 10,000 Luminance.
You have been granted the title, "Bearer of Darkness".

Asheron tells you, "Thank you once again for your help. Once I'm sure any damage done to you by bearing the page has passed, I can send you with another, if you wish to aid me further in this."
You may repeat this quest in 26d 23h 57m 18s.
