General

• This quest covers creating the basic Composite Bow, Composite Crossbow, and Composite Atlatl. Once you create your weapon, check out the Composite Bow Upgrade quest to enhance it.

Walk Through

Stave (Bow & Crossbow Only)

1. Hunt Great Mattekars until you find two Great Mattekar Horns.(VERY low drop rate)
   • Great Mattekar Horn
2. Head to Ayan Baqur and hand your two Great Mattekar Horns to Yuan Hanzu. You'll receive two Shaped Great Mattekar Horns.
   • Shaped Great Mattekar Horn
3. Hunt Lugians until you find two Large Lugian Sinews (Can also be won at the Casino).
   • Large Lugian Sinew
4. Use the Large Lugian Sinews on a Cooking Pot to create Cured Large Lugian Sinews (Cooking skill check).

5. Combine one Shaped Great Mattekar Horn with one Cured Large Lugian Sinew to create a Composite Arm. Repeat this step to get 2 arms.

6. Combine your two Composite Arms to make a Composite Stave.

Stave (Atlatl Only)

1. Hunt Great Mattekars until you find two Great Mattekar Horns.

2. Head to Ayan Baqur and hand your two Great Mattekar Horns to Havala bint Mylos. You'll receive two Carved Great Mattekar Horns.

3. Hunt Lugians until you find two Large Lugian Sinews (Can also be won at the Casino).

4. Use the Large Lugian Sinews on a Cooking Pot to create Cured Large Lugian Sinews (Cooking skill check).

1. Hunt Wood Golems until you find a Wood Heart.

2. Hand your Wood Heart to Barnar the Tinker in Cragstone at 25.3N 49.1E to receive a Crossbow Stock.

3. Combine your Composite Stave with your Crossbow Stock to create a Composite Stock with Stave.

1. Hunt Drudge Raveners until you find three Ravener Guts.

2. Combine two Ravener Guts to create Twisted Drudge Ravener Guts.

3. Combine your Twisted Drudge Ravener Guts with more Ravener Guts to create Braided Drudge Ravener Guts.

4. Add Bloodseeker Oil to the Braided Drudge Ravener Guts to create an Excellent Oiled String.

Grievver Spike Oil (Atlatl Only)

1. Hunt Spiked Grievvers until you find three Grievver Spikes (low drop rate).

2. Use a Metal Press on the Grievver Spike to extract Single Spine Grievver Spike Oil. Repeat 3 times.

3. Combine two Single Spine Grievver Spike Oils to create a Double Spine Grievver Spike Oil

4. Combine a Double Spine Grievver Spike Oil with a Single Spine Grievver Spike Oil to create a Full Bottle of Grievver Spike Oil

• Bow: Combine the Excellent Oiled String with the Composite Stave to create a Composite Bow (Bow Skill Check).

• Crossbow: Combine the Excellent Oiled String with the Composite Stock with Stave to create a Composite Crossbow (Crossbow Skill Check).

• Atlatl: Combine the Full Bottle of Grievver Spike Oil with the Composite Atlatl Stave to create a Composite Atlatl without handle (Alchemy Skill Check).

Handle

Tip: If you want to add the highest tier handle, skip this step and go directly to the Composite Bow Upgrade quest.

1. Hunt Dark Revenants until you find a Dark Revenant Thighbone (Can also be won at the Casino).
   • Dark Revenant Thighbone
2. Carve the Dark Revenant Thighbone with a Whittling Knife (Higher Fletching Skill Check) to create a Bone Handle

   • Use a carving knife instead of a whittling knife when fashioning a handle for the composite atlatl
3. Attach the Bone Handle to your Composite Bow, Composite Crossbow, or Composite Atlatl to increase its stats

• Tip: You can upgrade the handle to your weapon at any time by simply adding another Bone Handle to your weapon.

• During the Come What Follows event, a Composite Bow Upgrade quest was introduced.
• During the Corrupted Sovereigns event, a Composite Atlatl was added.

• The above write up is for the best possible Composite Bows and Xbows which are made from Great Mattekar Horns, Ravener Guts, Large Lugian Sinews, and a Dark Revenant Thighbone.
  • A bow or xbow made from Fire Auroch Horns is white instead of orange, and adds +2 melee instead of +6
  • Using Sclavus Tongues instead of Ravener Guts for the string (Fine Oiled String) results in a modifier of +90% instead of +110% for bows, and +120% instead of +140% for xbows (for weapons without the handle),
  • Using Small Lugian Sinews instead of Large Lugian Sinews results in speed 40 instead of speed 35 for bows, and speed 120 instead of speed 90 for xbows.
  • Using an Undead Thighbone for the Bone Handle results in different spells, lower modifiers and lower difficulties.
