Walk Through
The Major Stinging Stone
- [Optional] Purchase the rumor Duplicated Portals from various shopkeepers.
- The Incunabula Vault is located at 35.8S 47.3W in the Direlands, there is also a portal at 23.0S 60.0E.
- Route: Use the Portal to Kivik Lir's Temple at your mansion and run to 35.8S 47.3W.
- The dungeon contains only Olthoi Swarm Soldiers. From the drop take the southern ramp down and hug the right wall all the way around until you get to a big open room.
- Take the North-East hallway and follow the path across some bridges until you come to a second big room. Take the North hallway again to a room with an large acid pit. Go around the wall until you are at the ledge of the pit looking at the corner of another ledge.
- If you jump is high enough you can leap across to the other side. Take the North-Eastern hall way and follow it all the way to the surface portal. Take the right and run across the big room to a hall with the Major Acid Stone on the ground with some other gems and a book. Pick it up and recall.
The Minor Stinging Stone
- [Optional] Purchase the rumor, A Stinging Stone, from Barkeeper Fo Ya-Un in Hebian-To at 39.1S, 83.4E, the rumor directs you to find a small Swamp Cave at 24.5S, 47.4E.
- To get to the cave quickly, start in Yanshi take the Swamp Temple Place Portal at 10.3S, 45.7E, from here it is a short run to the cave at 24.5S, 47.4E.
- Once there you will see 3 Mosswart Soul Trappers, 2 Mosswart Zealots and 11 Sewer Rats, kill them then run down into the cave and pick up the Minor Stinging Stone, you will also see a Textbook and a Soiled Parchment which you can take if you wish.
- Optionally you can take the Textbook and Soiled Parchment to Bretself the Translator in Cragstone for translation at 26.0N, 47.0E. The textbook translates to Atlan's Treatise, the parchment translates to Decree.
Uses
Major and Minor Atlan Stones
- Place in an Atlan Weapon to make an acid version of that weapon.

- Turn in to an Agent of the Arcanum for 1 Writ of Refuge (Unlike with the major stone, you will need two minor stones for the writ).

- Place in Post-Patch Greater Shadow Armor to get +40 armor level and unparalleled protection to acid.

Town Crier tells you, "News! Explorers searching the most remote areas of Dereth have discovered several new underground complexes, apparently dating back to the Empyrean Age of Lore. Rumors that these may be storehouses for archaic weapons are crossing the length and breadth of the land."
You give Bretself the Translator Textbook.
Bretself the Translator tells you, "Do you realize what you have here? This appears to be nothing less than an Empyrean weapons manual! What a fabulous discovery! At long last, we have a glimpse into the lost arts of their great society."
Bretself the Translator tells you, "You certainly deserve a copy a this for yourself."
Bretself the Translator gives you Atlan's Treatise.
You give Agent of the Arcanum Major Stinging Stone.
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "These crystals have many alchemical uses. Ciandra has continued to research what allows these stones to tap into this worlds well of powerful magics."
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "Here, take this as a reward."
Agent of the Arcanum gives you Writ of Refuge.
Minor Stinging Stone note translation
You give Bretself the Translator Soiled Parchment.
Bretself the Translator tells you, "Sweet merciful Mothers... this missive would seem to be scribed by the hand of Asheron himself! A remarkable find! I wonder what this calamity he describes was?"
Bretself the Translator gives you Decree.
Handing in 2 minor stones to an Agent of the Arcanum
You give Agent of the Arcanum Minor Stinging Stone.
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "These elemental stones have wonderful properties. The minor ones aren't quite as useful as the major stones, but I can reward you a writ if you bring me another minor stone."
You give Agent of the Arcanum Minor Sparking Stone.
Agent of the Arcanum tells you, "Excellent, the second minor stone! We hope to tap those energies for other uses. Here, take this as a reward."
Agent of the Arcanum gives you Writ of Refuge.
Notes
- During the Heart of Woe event, a duplicate portal was added for the Incunabula Vault to make the dungeon easier to get to (see the Duplicated Portals rumor).
