Quest Overview
Jacob Durstan requires assistance in recovering an axe he lost.
Walk Through
- Speak to Jacob Durstan in Arwic. He located next to the lifestone in the center of town. He will task you with retrieving his axe from a skeleton's skull.
- Head east from Arwic till your reach the Fort at 32.5N 66.1E (take Cape Ferigard settlement portal or the Skeleton Fort portal in the Facility Hub for a shortcut). The Fort is populated primarily by Skeleton Lords and a few Skeleton Wraiths. The door of the Fort is at the southeast end.
- Locate the Hard-Headed Skeleton which is at the opposite end of the Fort from the door. Kill it and loot Jacob's Axe.
- Return the axe to Jacob Durstan in Arwic for 100,000xp and an Axe Head Helm.

Jacob Durstan tells you, "Hail, friend!"
Jacob Durstan tells you, "You look like a hunter on the prowl. If you are in search of adventure, I bid you listen to my tale."
Jacob Durstan tells you, "There is a fort east of here that has been overrun with skeletons. Nasty suckers, those skeletons, and I ought to know. I was contracted by an emissary of the Queen to clear the skeletons out of the fort, and was doing pretty well, too, until I was set upon by a Bone Knight! I slammed my axe into his head, which should have been the end of him. But the axe stuck! So now the foul beast is running around with my axe embedded in his skull!"
Jacob Durstan tells you, "I tried to get it back, but with no weapon, the skels made short work of me. And so here I am at the lifestone again. If you could spare a moment to retrieve my axe, I would be most indebted to you. You can find the fort at 32.5N 66.1E."
Jacob Durstan tells you, "Good luck to you!"
You give Jacob Durstan Jacob's Axe.
Jacob Durstan tells you, "You found it! Wonderful! My patron went to great pains to find this axe for me. She was most distressed when she'd heard I lost it."
Jacob Durstan tells you, "You deserve a reward for your troubles. Please accept this helm. It's much tougher than it looks. I promise!"
You've earned 100,000 experience.
Jacob Durstan gives you Axe Head Helm.
Warden tells you, "Jacob Durstan of Arwic buried his axe deep in the skull of a skeleton and couldn't retrieve it."
Warden tells you, "The skeleton in question is in a fort at 32.5N, 661.E outside of Arwic."
Warden tells you, "Retrieve Jacob's axe for him and return it to him in Arwic."
Warden tells you, "Return to me with anything he gives you in exchange for a reward."
You allow Warden to examine your Axe Head Helm.
Warden tells you, "A helm with an axe buried deep in it. A fitting reward for the task."
Warden tells you, "This is the reward I promised you."
You've earned 1,650,000 experience.
Notes
- During the Reforging the Past event, the quest become one of the Facility Hub Quests.
- During the Learning From Experience event, the experience reward was increased from 30,000 to 100,000.
