Changes to Code of Conduct Enforcement

May 2002

Effective immediately, there will be a slight change to the Asheron's Call Code of Conduct enforcement. This change lies in the players' initiation of a “Report Abuse” call.

The Report Abuse call generates a log that tells us what has been said by both you and the player you are reporting (both in public and private chat). In the past, we have used these logs to remove players who were grievous violators of the Code of Conduct.

The change in enforcement is nothing more then an extension of this practice. We have felt that we were not reviewing these logs thoroughly enough and have now increased our coverage.

What does this mean to you? If you feel a person is abusing you in a way that violates the Code of Conduct (such as foul language, real-life threats or spam) make sure you report the incident.

The admins who are working that shift will not have immediate access to these logs, unfortunately, so sometimes they will not be able to help immediately, but with the more thorough log reviews, Code of Conduct offenses will be spotted, even through direct tells (yes, the Code of Conduct can and will be enforced when it comes to direct tells).

The same rules apply to logs as they would were the admins to witness the incident personally. Some players will receive warnings before they are banned, other will be banned immediately, depending on the severity of the offense.

It should be noted that abusing the “Report Abuse” function is also a Code of Conduct violation. We ask that you make sure you are filing reports only when you feel the Code of Conduct has been violated.
