The Shadows

Quest Overview

This quest is the first quest in the Shadow Invasion Quest Chain. This quest can only be completed once per character.

At the end of this quest you have 2 options for getting rewards, with the only difference being the title awarded. Which title you choose is entirely optional and does not have any known impact/effect on the rest of the quest chain.

Completing this quest allows you to do the next quest in the series, Strange Crystal Quest, after a 20 hour timer expires.

Walk Through

1. [Optional] Speak to Isin Dule in Arwic at 33.4N, 56.9E. He will send you to Tou-Tou in search of a shadow spire.
2. Run from Tou-Tou to The Shadows at 29.5S, 94.2E.
   • Note 1: The Shadows is a dungeon filled with void magic creatures. It is recommended to wear as many Growth Aetheria as possible to diminish the effects of the damage over time spells.
   • Note 2: In order to pass through the hallways, you will have to take down multiple Voids (doors) that block your route. Attack each with a fire rend on full speed for maximum damage.
   • Note 3: It is a good idea to become familiar with the dungeon, as you will need to visit multiple times during the Shadow Invasion Quest Chain.
3. From the drop, head down 14 flights of stairs.
4. There are multiple route through the dungeon to the final room. You can choose to go east, west, or north in the first room. After that, continue going north whenever possible. See map for details. Note that some paths have more void doors that must be destroyed than others. There is also a room on the western side of the dungeon which requires a jump to cross. If you miss you can do a full shift jump to get back up, but it could possibly be too high if your jump skill is low.
5. Eventually you will reach a room with no enemies and a large black structure. Run up the ramp around the pillar and speak to Ler Rhan at the top. He will give you a Message from Ler Rhan to Black Ferah.
6. You now have 2 options for turning in for rewards. Both give the same experience, luminance, and MFKs. The title given by each is different.
   • Option 1: Bring the message to Black Ferah, located outside Tou-Tou at 29.2S 95.8E for the title "Clouded Soul".
   • Option 2: Bring the message to Isin Dule in Arwic before taking it to Black Ferah for the title "Guiding Light".

Ler Rhan tells you, "Take this message to Black Ferah at her scouting post near Tou-Tou."

Ler Rhan tells you, "If you fail to do this, do not return."

Ler Rhan gives you A message from Ler Rhan to Black Ferah.

Isin Dule examines the message carefully.

Isin Dule tells you, "Ah, most interesting. This explains the spire that has appeared near Tou-Tou and the beginning of the generals' plans."

Isin Dule tells you, "Bring this to Ferah so that they do not suspect we have received this information."

Isin Dule tells you, "You must bring this message to Ferah before they realize you have slipped the information to us. Hurry!"
