Quest Overview
This quest is the fifth quest in the Shadow Invasion Quest Chain. You must have completed Dark Recordings prior to starting this quest. This quest can only be completed once per character.
There are 2 ways to complete this quest, with the only difference in rewards being the title awarded. Which title you choose is entirely optional and does not have any known impact/effect on the rest of the quest chain.
Completing this quest allows you to do the next quest in the series, Tou-Tou Blockade, after a 20 hour timer expires.
Walk Through
Defending the Town
- Speak to Isin Dule inside Arwic
- Isin Dule will ask you to kill 3 of the Shadow Vortexes that are surrounding Tou-Tou.
- 28.0S, 96.2E - Shadow Vortex
- 28.5S, 95.5E - Shadow Vortex
- Head to Tou-Tou, defeat 3 Shadow Vortexes. They respawn at a normal rate, so you can just camp at one of the locations if desired. The spawn just on the edge of the town.
- Note: Mages will have a very hard (if not impossible) time killing them. They are highly magic resistant, and even if you do hit them it is for very little damage. You will likely need to recruit a missile weapons character or melee to fellow with you to get the kills if you are a mage.
- Return to Isin Dule and he will tell you to go to Asheron's Castle.
- Speak to Emissary of Asheron (Asheron's Castle) for rewards and the title "Bright Knight".
Sacking the Town
- Speak to Black Ferah outside Tou-Tou at 29.2S, 95.8E.
- He will send you to speak to the Shadow Captain in Tou-Tou at 28.3S 95.3E.
- After talking to the captain, speak to each of the three Shadow Soldiers nearby to spawn soldiers to complete the kill task. They will each spawn five soldiers for the kill task.
- Kill 15 soldiers. If you die or miss some kills you will need to wait a few minutes for the Shadow Soldiers to activate again to continue.
- Enter The Shadows at 29.5S, 94.2E nearby and make your way north to the room with Ler Rhan. Note that this is the same location visited for the Shadow Communication quest.
- Speak to Ler Rhan for rewards and the title "Shadow Soldier".

If your 13 timer is not up after completing the Part 4 Dark Recordings from the Shadow Invasion quest chain then you will receive this message when talking to Black Ferah to start Part 5 Shadow Assault;
Black Ferah tells you, "We are still working on figuring out the discrepancies in the data we've received."
Black Ferah tells you, "We have setup forces at the edge of town."
Black Ferah tells you, "Find the Shadow Captain and provide her with any assistance she needs."
Shadow Captain tells you, "Black Ferah sent you to assist in the siege efforts?"
Shadow Captain tells you, "We are working on bringing Shadow Vortexes to the surface."
Shadow Captain tells you, "You may want to stand back. These things have a mind of their own."
Shadow Captain tells you, "As you can see, I am all set over here. However, the other Shadow Soldiers have been encountering resistance."
Shadow Captain tells you, "Go assist them and kill off anyone that tries to stop them."
Shadow Soldier tells you, "Come to help with the siege?"
Shadow Soldier tells you, "You'd better be ready for this."
